History of Micro-current
Originally developed in the U.S. in the late 1980s, micro-current therapy was used to treat facial weakness in victims of bell's Palsy and strokes.Patients with muscles on the side of their faces, which had been paralysed and caused their faces to look "lop-sided", were treated with a micro-current. This treatment seemed to "lift" their faces looked closer to their former selves again.Micro-current systems are also used to treat muscular injuries (especially in athletes) and by physiotherapists for pain relief.

This treatment has been available in China for cosmetic purposes since the late 1990s. Many esthetic professionals are successfully marketing these treatments as "non-surgical lifts". Treatment claims include the reduction of wrinkles, an improvement in the overall shape of the face, a better complexion and improvements in the appearance of stretch marks and scar tissue.

What is Micro-current ?
Micro-current is a technology that grew out of the expansive field of electrophysiology.  Modern medical science acknowledges multiple processes in the body that are electrical. Every cell in the body can be seen as an "electrical generator" which generates electrical currents. These currents are measured often by means of electrical activities in the skin (GRS), the brain (EEG), the heart (EKG), and the muscles (EMG). This technology recognizes the body as a self-healing organism and supports its many natural occurring functions.  In turn, micro-current achieves a variety of results in the many facets of youth, health and wellness.

The combination of different variations of currents allows these machines to show great results in tissue enhancement and repair. The currents which travels in a waveform vary in the time they take to peak, whether gradually or quickly. The time the current remains peaked will also vary, as will the time the current takes to subside. The variation in the current and frequency can be concentrated on specific tissues and adapted to the individual needs of each client. The micro-currents utilized produce different effects on the muscle and the tissue of the skin.

It is a current with extremely low amperage that operates optimally below the threshold of pain. It is operable only between 1 and 1000 micro-amps.  It is completely normal for people to feel next to nothing during micro-current treatments. The operator usually directs the current with electrodes and pads.
